They found that a surprising 41% of men put a premium on decor compared to 30% of women! They also found that a full 63% of buyers preferred a higher priced home that does not require any renovations over a lower priced fixer-upper.

What this means: Home staging can have a significant affect on the market value and appeal of your home. You're better off raising your asking price and presenting a "show home" (which a talented home stager can create for you), then lowering your price and trying to sell a home that doesn't show well and looks like it needs work.
